In Love: Sarah and Chris

Sarah + Chris are wonderful together. He makes her laugh (well, she laughs a lot anyway :) and she makes him smile. What could be better? Their wedding is in a few months and I know they can't wait to say I Do. I can't wait to be there to record it. If these photos are anything to go by, their day will be filled with even more love, laughter and smiles all around.

The story behind the photo: Chris spotted this cantaloupe/rose memorial in the James River and I had to get a photo of it...

and proceeded to get my shoes stuck in the mud and almost topple in to the river myself!

It was definitely memorable!

I Do: Tatiana + Jason

Tatiana + Jason's wedding day started out rainy but soon the sun shone bright... and hot! It was a gorgeous day, even if it was a little on the warm side. It was apparent throughout the day all the thought that went into every detail from dress to flowers to location and it all worked together so perfectly. Their location of choice was The Manor House in Mechanicsville. It was beautiful, inside and out.

This just makes me smile. :)

I think anyone who's met Tatiana will agree that this series shows her personality to a T.

Father giving away his daughter. Like father, like daughter.

Jason gave Tatiana the same coins that her father gave her mother the day they were married.

One word: gorgeous!

In Love: Jessica and Mike

Jessica and Mike's e-session was so fun. Talking to Jessica was just like talking to an old friend, even though we just met that day! In just a few short clicks of my camera, it was obvious that Mike adores Jessica. I just had to know a little about their story.

A few years ago, Jessica was all ready to head off to Seattle and get her graduate degree. Love decided this was a good time to show itself. :) They knew right away they were meant for each other but Jessica still headed off to Seattle to school as per the plan. When she came home to see Mike, he couldn't wait another second and serenaded Jessica in the airport and proceeded to pop the question! Mike moved to Seattle to be with Jessica and then they moved back to Virginia after she graduated. Now they are getting married! What a love story! I can't wait for their wedding. It is sure to be beautiful.

After Session: Naomi and Randy

Naomi and Randy opted to do an After Session instead of an Engagement Session since they had a lot more free time after the wedding than before. We started in downtown Richmond with some casual shots then they changed into their wedding attire and we took some more. After that, we headed for the Truck Graveyard. What a place! It was awesome!! It was also in the middle of Nowhere, VA. Haha! It took forever to get there, but it was worth it!

Naomi and Randy wanted some individual shots because, uh, hello? Who doesn't want a hot Facebook profile photo?!

And on to the Truck Graveyard...!

I absolutely love Naomi and Randy! They are so sweet. Since we were with these awesome beat up old trucks, they insisted on taking my photo with them! Thank you!!

Cleo Senior Shoot

Cleo absolutely blew her session out of the water! She rocked it and as Tyra would say, it was fierce! We started with a senior drape shot for the yearbook (don't you think hers will jump off the page?!) moved on to fan blowing hair, and wrapped up with an outdoor shoot on Belle Isle. You can't even guess from the pictures that it was so hot outside and 100% humidity. Cleo worked it! I had such a blast taking her photos - not to mention she made my job beyond easy! Love it!

Storybook Albums

I have to admit it. I LOVE my albums. They are beautifully made AsukaBook Albums that just make all the photos in the album look a-mazing! These were delivered yesterday and I just couldn't resist taking pictures. They are so pretty!

Mat and Robin decided to get 3 parent albums to say "thank you" for their wedding. What a great gift! I'm sure their parents will love them!

In Love: Taniqua and Chealon

You can see it in their eyes, in the way they look at each other, touch, smile - they are in love. Taniqua and Chealon's e-session was full of love. As you can see. The location only added to intensify that love with a romantic urban backdrop. We took the photos at the outside mall in Charlottesville. What a great location! Taniqua picked it out for this session and also for their wedding in a few months. It will be so great. Can't wait!

Camille the Cutie

A couple of months ago I did Nadia's 3 year portraits and this month was her sister Camille's turn. We did a combo 18 month portrait session for Camille / sisters portrait session. Now that they have a little sibling on the way, it was even more important to get some cute shots of the sisters together now.

How much do you love this close, close up face shot? Camille decided to pose for me about 2 inches in front of the camera. lol!

Can't resist the feet shots? Neither can I! Love the little bit of sand still clinging to their tootsies!

The beauty of photography. They look like they like holding hands. In actuality Camille shook off her sister's hand a second later. :)

Baby Belly Pics

As a gift for a friend, I gave a pregnancy session as a baby shower gift to Jen. She is due in less than a month and it was a perfect time for pictures! Don't they just make you smile?!

Baby Hunter kept kicking the shoes off of Jen's belly. I just had to include a shot of it. It cracked me up! :)

Bridal Show Photos!

I had a great time at the bridal show today meeting everyone! This was my first show and it was fun. I don't think I'd do much different the next time around. I do have to say that it took a lot of planning. Next time will be easier because I know what I want to do.

The cookie bouquet was my door prize, but whoever won it never claimed it so I gave it away to another bride and groom. :) Isn't it cute? It by Cookies by Design.

When I got home I couldn't resist taking a couple more photos of the flowers and brochures. Both were so adorable!

Word to the wise: don't wear heals! ;)

I Do: Lindsay + Troy

If you remember just a few months ago I said Lindsay + Troy's wedding would be a "blast" and I was honored to be there to "record the fireworks." Lindsay + Troy's wedding was a 4th of July spectacular! It was a beautiful day shared with family and friends. One I know they will never forget! Lindsay + Troy are so fun and always, always smiling and laughing. :) They brighten each other's world in such a sweet way. Lindsay at one time shared her version of the Brad Paisley song "I'm Going to Miss Her" about fishing for which she made up her own lyrics about Troy's love of football (he's a high school coach). It was a side grabber! Like I said, they brighten each other's world and those around them with their love.

Here's to many more days filled with love and laughter! Congratulations!

I just love these next two pictures. I took them before the ceremony separately and they hadn't seen each other yet. I love how they seem to be gazing in to their future as husband and wife.

How sweet is this moment during the dance between mother and son?

After the wedding, Lindsay + Troy wanted to get their photo on the steps of the Jefferson Hotel where they were spending their wedding night. It was right at twilight and so beautiful. Couldn't resist this shot of the flag on our Independence Day!

You all remember their dog Vinny? This collar was at their table as an honorary token of him even though he couldn't attend.

Randy + Naomi's wedding took place on a beautiful June day with all their friends and family to help celebrate their union. They started out as friends but it soon led to much more and here we are now - their wedding day! We took a detour between the ceremony and reception to stop at the UVA campus in Charlottesville. I had no idea it was such a pretty place and it easily helped to make the photos even that much more gorgeous.

I love my job! I was hired this week to shoot a Danica Patrick event. She signed autographs and took pictures with her fans. She was so sweet and friendly! I had a great time and of course, I had to get a photo with her, too. And her autograph! She is such a great female role model. It was a pleasure doing this event and being able to see her in person.

This was so cute! The little girl wanted her chair signed by Danica.

Jessica + Cory's wedding was the stuff of dreams. The day went off without a hitch. The ceremony was perfect and so beautiful. The light and beauty of the church complimented their dresses and suits so well. Jessica smiled or rather, beamed all day and Cory couldn't keep his eyes off of her. And let me tell you, they know how to have fun if their reception was anything to go by. They danced all night! In summary, it was a blast!

Robin + Mat's wedding kicked off this year's wedding season. They had 9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen! Which set the tone of their wedding - it was just beautiful. Love the red and gold color scheme, too. I had such a good time being there for such an important day in their lives. Congratulations!

I met John + Stephanie and their girls at Pony Pastures for some casual, candid family pictures. We were rained out the first time so we tried again the following week and had fine weather. They turned out great! These two adorable girls just captured my heart!

My Whirlwind Vacation

Last week my mom and grandma from Colorado met me in NYC for Memorial Day weekend for some quick sightseeing. We jumped on a bus and saw everything! I took about 900 pictures, but thought I'd spare you and just show my very favs. We then went to VA Beach, Richmond (where I live), Washington DC, and Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown the rest of the week.

We had such a great time. It was sad to see them leave, but I'm thankful I have these memories forever captured.

Some friends of mine, Liesl and Ken, asked me to take photos for them recently. They married last year prior to Ken being deployed overseas. Unfortunately for them, they didn't get any photos of their wedding day. Fortunately for me, because I got to be the first to take their "official" husband and wife photos. Lucky, lucky me! We all had a good time, even Lizzy, their cute dog who came along to star in a few shots.

Carson B-Day + Family Shoot

To celebrate Carson turning one we had a combo family and first birthday shoot at Cindy and Stewart's house. Once I had a chance to look around and see what an amazing job they've done restoring their 1950's house, I knew we had to use it. I love this era and the classic feel that brings so much character to these photos!

Cindy had the great idea of putting Carson's cupcakes in this wooden truck that a friend had handmade for him. How unique!

Carson crashed after all the cake and mess!

Mat + Robin had it going on despite the bitterly cold windy day. What naturals! They made it look like it was 80 degrees outside. Of course, the wind did help to make it look like we were shooting a magazine spread. Gorgeous, gorgeous!

Lindsay + Troy

I'm looking forward to all my weddings this year! I have great new ideas and am excited to try them all out!

As you know, all of my packages come with engagement sessions (e-sessions). Not all of my couples opt to do them, but I always highly encourage the e-sessions as it gives me a chance to get you know you and gives you a chance to get comfortable with me and the crazy things I ask! :)

Lindsay + Troy were one such example. Troy said he had been dreading the e-session (normal guy!) but as we got going he really started enjoying himself. Not long into my directing the shoot, he "clicked" with my suggestions and soon he became the director! haha!

He'd say look this way, now that way, kiss, look at each other to Lindsay and had us all cracking up! I had a great time and got some great shots.

Lindsay + Troy's wedding will be a blast and I'm so honored to be there to record the fireworks! Stay tuned...

We had to get one with Lindsay + Troy's dog, Vinny. Isn't he adorable?! Love Lindsay's bumper sticker, too!

Rush + Jennifer, and their kids Jonah + Reagan met me at local park to take some fun candid family shots. Jonah was sweet and shy while Reagan was little miss diva! Haha, too cute!

New Locations!

I went out yesterday with some friends to find some new locations in Richmond for photo shoots. We came across the Pump Station near Byrd park. It's old and empty and has a lot of character with gorgeous architecture, nature trails, bridges, rail road tracks and canals. I can't wait to shoot some portrait sessions there!

There was a lot of trash around but we agreed that this one was the best by far - an old 1950s wire mattress that is decomposing into the ground.

We don't usually get more than a flutter of snowflakes in Richmond each winter, but WOW, today we have 6-8 inches. The whole city is closed down. Being from Colorado, this is nothing new to us, but I still couldn't help be filled with wonder at the beauty outside. I had to take some photos - especially of our dogs who just loved it!

Camille and Madison celebrated their one year birthdays last month. I was so excited to record such an important birthday for both darling girls! Here's how we honored each momentous occasion!
